Job Title: Sr. Associate Attorney

Job Duties

Dale A. Harris dba Harris & Ruble in Glendale, CA is a boutique law firm specializing in complex litigation for plaintiffs, including antitrust, bankruptcy, wage and hour class actions, intellectual property, entertainment law and employment law matters.  We are seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to represent clients in individual and class-action litigation, as well as other legal proceedings.

Job responsibilities and duties include:

  • Attend court hearings and argue motions.

  • Prepare for, take and defend depositions.

  • Prepare for and prosecute cases in anticipation of trial, including drafting and arguing motions, meeting with judges and opposing counsel, and questioning witnesses. Present and summarize cases at trial.

  • Advise clients concerning their claims, advisability of prosecuting lawsuits, and legal rights and obligations.

  • Gather evidence to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.

  • Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.

  • Confer with colleagues regarding unsettled legal issues to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings.

  • Develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.

  • Examine factual data and documents to determine advisability of prosecuting lawsuits.

  • Conduct legal research and analyze and interpret laws, rulings and regulations.

  • Communicate and coordinate with process servers and legal vendors to serve complaints and subpoenas.

  • Negotiate settlements of individual and class-action disputes and attend mediation.

  • This position does not supervise any other personnel.


Requirements

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, and admission to practice law in the State of California, and at least three (3) years of experience in civil litigation. 

Must also be qualified to appear in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable knowledge, proficiency, experience and skill working with the following:

  1. Drafting class action motions, discovery requests and settlement agreements.

  2. Drafting class certification motions.

  3. Negotiating and mediating class action settlements.

  4. Drafting pleadings, discovery and motions.

  5. Westlaw.

  • 10% domestic travel; no telecommuting.

  • Salary: $140,000 per year.
